Moving is a very strenuous process, and when it doesn’t flow smoothly it can be completely frustrating. I would recommend creating a moving checklist to make sure your move is as stress free as possible. Below are some ideas to consider adding to your checklist.
- Check all keys to the home and make sure they work properly
- Make sure the condition of your new home is top notch
- Come up with a list for what items should be moved first
- Ask some friends to help you with your move
- Make sure you have plenty of boxes, bubble wrap, tape, and other packing materials
- Label boxes with what contents is to be stored inside of them so you can easily identify where to place them in your new home
- If you plan to rent a UHaul, talk with the company to make sure the date is correct and double check the cost
- Make sure that the moving company will insured all of your items
- Notify your utility companies of your move to make sure you receive their service at your new address
- Notify the post office of your move and provide them with your new address
- Notify your employer of the move so that your mail will be received at your new address
- If you have children, notify their school of the move
- Make sure the condition of your new home is top notch
